"Captain America: The First Avenger" graces the cover of the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, giving an official look at Chris Evans in the costume of the superhero character. Some other photos from within the issue have additionally gone online and shown him in another kind of costume and shield.
Another picture, meanwhile, unveils villainous Red Skull as portrayed by Hugo Weaving. Stanley Tucci who portrays Dr. Abraham Erskine is also featured in an image although his face cannot be seen clearly since he is not pictured from the front side. Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter and Richard Armitage's Heinz Kruger can be seen in other shots.
Of the movie, the magazine's article says, "The year is 1942, and Steve Rogers is a scrawny lad who desperately wants to fight Nazis for his country but can't because he's been deemed physically unfit. His fate - and his physique - is radically transformed when he signs up for Project: Rebirth, a secret military operation that turns wimps into studs using drugs and assorted sci-fi hoo-ha."
Evans worked with a personal trainer to bulk up before shooting "Captain America". And in order to show Steve Rogers as a scrawny runt, "[director Joe Johnston] plans to use a combination of clever camera angles, costume trickery, and special effects that will digitally reduce Evans' body or even put his face on a skinny actor," the publication adds.
This movie adaptation of Marvel's character is filmed in England in several different locations including London. Sebastian Stan and Samuel L. Jackson are also set to appear in the action film, which is due to arrive in the U.S. on July 22, 2011.
